What happens in counseling ?
This too can cause some concern for those who have never been to a therapist. It is easy to imagine yourself lying on a couch, the therapist's back to you and you recite your dreams, stare at ink blots and talk about your mom. Don't worry! You will do none of that here. The focus is placed upon the present problem rather than your past conditioning. It requires responsibility and courage to overcome whatever the situation may be. This is accomplished through discussion, retraining our thinking and homework. I rarely assign self help books and I insist on avoiding psychobabble at all cost.
